In February 2017 the ART-TOUR goes to Ethiopia.
We go to the ancient biblical country. The two-week journey promises to be eventful and interesting. The first part is devoted to the North of the country with amazing mountains, lakes and cities. We visit the source of the Blue Nile, we will see baboons at the mountains of the Simen National Park, we will walk along ancient streets of Orthodox Aksum and Lalibela.
Continuing our journey we will visit tribes of the Southern Ethiopia, where we will be able to get acquainted with day-to-day life of Mursi, Tsemai, Hamer and other African people. We will visit the crocodile farm and markets, where the locals from the villages of neighboring area gather.

And for lovers of thrills, as a continuation of our Ethiopian adventure you may join the expedition to the most mysterious desert in the world – the Danakil Depression.

In his new documentary, Africa’s Great Civilizations, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and cultural critic Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. explores the epic stories of both celebrated and little-known African kingdoms and cultures. Professor Gates travels the length and breadth of Africa to chronicle the continent’s history from a firmly African perspective. Ruth Negga is an Ethiopian-Irish actress who has appeared in the films Capital Letters (2004) (also released as Trafficked in some countries), Isolation (2005), Breakfast on Pluto (2005), Warcraft (2016) and Loving (2016). She has also played roles in television, such as in the BBC’s mini-series Criminal Justice, RTÉ’s Love/Hate, E4’s Misfits, and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. In 2016, she began a starring role as Tulip O’Hare in AMC’s Preacher.

For her portrayal of Mildred Loving in Loving, Negga was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress, and a BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Due to global warming and lack of access to education their farming has suffered leaving the community of Hudad to rely on International food aid to survive. We aim to raise funds to provide seeds for the villages of Hudad. Then Friends of the Hudad will purchase seeds from their local supplier and facilitate a trainer who will support the villages planting, growing and harvesting the crop.

Friends of the Hudad is a not for profit organisation aiming to facilitate environmental, social and economic prosperity in the community Hudad.

UN 2017 WOMEN FIRST 5km
Great Ethiopian Run is celebrating this year it’s 14th edition of the annual Women First 5km, women only run which was started to mark international women’s day thirteen years ago and highlight contribution of Ethiopian women in the society. Ethiopia is celebrating the International Women’s Day for the 40th time this year, showcasing the country’s long term commitment at the highest level to advancing the women’s agenda.
UN Ethiopia is the title sponsor of the 2017 Women First 5km. A total of 11,000 girls and women are expected to take part in the event. The event has become the biggest women only event in the country where girls and women from all walks of life come together to celebrate the day.
