Due to an overwhelming response, we are adding a second show in San Francisco!

Australia’s number one viral classical music duo, TwoSet Violin, are bringing their classical comedy into the concert hall! With over 300 million views and collaborations with superstars soloists such as Lang Lang, it’s fair to say Internet sensation Twoset Violin are taking the Classical World by storm! After a successful Asia and Europe tour in 2017, they’re bringing their unique blend of musicality, humour and Internet culture to life in the form of one crazy recital to San Francisco! Featuring the most ‘fire’ concerto rap battle, a time-travelling music app, and a love story better than twilight, this show promises laughs for both the classical-music lover and those who don’t know much about the genre. They have been featured on ABC news, China Times, Strait times, the Strad magazine, the Violin Channel, SONY classical, SBS News, Cut Common Magazine, WQXR and many more! You will be in for an adventure, this is a concert not to be missed!

For the past forty years, YLC has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of children across the nation by forging systemic and sustained change within the foster care and juvenile justice systems. We have worked to end harmful practices, ensure effective parenting and ensure successful adulthoods. Our impact includes:

Improved conditions for children who are incarcerated and institutionalized
Return to community and family for some of the most isolated children
Increased supports for families and parenting
Developmentally appropriate care that recognizes the special vulnerabilities of babies
Maximizing opportunities for children involved in systems to achieve their goals through education and higher education, normal childhoods, extracurricular activities, extended foster care, transition to parenthood, and advocacy opportunities
Holding public agencies accountable for excellent care for children

Online ticket sales have closed. A limited number of tickets may be available at the museum on the night of the program on a first come, first served basis.
DESCRIPTION
Down-and-out celebrity biographer and cantankerous New Yorker Lee Isarel (expertly played by Melissa McCarthy) is broke. When her beloved cat becomes ill and she can’t pay the medical bills, she turns to forging and selling letters by literary luminaries and finds she’s quite good at it—as Lee puts it, she’s a better Dorothy Parker than Dorothy Parker. Her drunken camaraderie with her lone friend Jack Hock (an absolutely charming Richard E. Grant) is the beating heart of this quietly queer film. Courtesy of Fox Searchlight.

A discussion with actor Melissa McCarthy follows the screening.

Oakland resident Cassius Green (Lakieth Stanfield), overwhelmed by back rent and a nagging uncle, is in desperate need of a job. He finds a steady paycheck and unexpected success as a telemarketer, eventually getting promoted to an elite role selling a morally questionable service. This satirical, absurdist, genre-bending film takes a truly fresh look at the intersections of ethics, race, class, and art, creating a uniquely relevant snapshot of our current moment. An incendiary calling card from director Boots Riley, Sorry to Bother You is as intellectually bold as it is stylistically ambitious. Courtesy of Annapurna Pictures.

Jazz is Dead Presents The Midnight Hour

When two of hip-hop’s most accomplished composers get together to make an album you know the results are going to be special. Ali Shaheed Muhammed (of A Tribe Called Quest) & Adrian Younge began their work together in 2013 on the critically acclaimed Souls of Mischief album There Is Only Now and their partnership cemented on their score work for Marvel’s Luke Cage. Today, they are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their carefully constructed and masterful The Midnight Hour. It is the duo’s long awaited debut album and it showcases their songwriting ability like never before.

AUBREY LOGAN

Although Christmas can be a wonderful time of the year, if all those songs about sugar plum fairies and candy canes send you into a diabetic coma… you may want to look into Aubrey Logan. She takes all those great Christmas songs (plus a couple of originals) and turns them on their ear. An evening with Aubrey Logan’s Sassy Christmas will give you plenty of tug-at-your-heart moments, but it will be a night full of jazzy versions of well-known (and obscure) songs that will leave you and your audiences celebrating well into the new year!

Aubrey is most well-known for her millions of YouTube views as well as appearances on American Idol, The Grammy’s, ABC’S The Goldbergs and a PBS TV special. She tours incessantly and leaves fans breathless with her phenomenal three-octave range and virtuoso trombone playing. Having worked with everyone from Quincy Jones and Pharrell Williams to Josh Groban and Alabama Shakes, Aubrey Logan is a force to be reckoned with and a name that is quickly becoming a household name for music-lovers. Join millions of fans and enjoy her sassy renditions of the best of Christmas.
