Vale Rink is a synthetic rink Swiss engineered to perfection by Glice and does not require water or electricity to function. This blissful event takes place at The Michel Cluizel boutique,a French chocolate Making family established in 1948.
About this Event
As you arrive you will be greeted by Virginia, our experienced French specialist who will serve you a traditional and authentic hot cocoa.
Once warmed up. You will learn a little about the history of this family brand which hails from the Normandy region.
You will be whisked away through a brief history of chocolate which spans centurie, while also learning about some of the processes involved with chocolate making.
Virginia will then guide you through the “ Makino Ganache”Demo, teaching you everything from scratch, as well showing you how to be creative with a traditional recipe.
You will make then your own truffles, while soon realize how a simple recipe can be molded into something as unique as your imagination. Not only you will be able to add your own flavors and topping, but your own feelings into your personal creations.
Virginia will be there with you every step of the way, entertaining you with fun facts and answers to all questions.
And if you did not eat all beforehand, you will be able to leave our experience with your personal creations to indulge while in the comfort of your own home.

A: This is for both quality control and crowd control. NYC bars can easily become over-crowded so meeting details are only provided to confirmed bookings.
Q: But is it close to my hotel?
A: Probably. The East & West Village are very famous neighborhoods in Manhattan. No worries: all crawls begin and end within a couple blocks of major subway lines that run 24 hours a day, and also in high traffic areas with plenty of taxi cabs available all hours of the day & night.
Q: What does my $22 get me?

FABSCRAP needs your help to save designer textiles from landfill! Volunteers will sort through fabric samples and swatches, separating fabric from paper headers and folding large, usable fabric to be saved for reuse.
We are committed to keeping our volunteers, community, and team safe:
Masks are required to enter the FABSCRAP warehouse and are mandatory on the Brooklyn Army Terminal premises
Volunteer stations are spaced at least 6 feet apart
Cleaning and sanitizing of volunteer stations and frequently touched surfaces will take place between all volunteer sessions
The FABSCRAP team will be wearing masks and gloves at all times
Gloves and hand sanitizer will be available
We ask that volunteers cancel their session and stay home if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough, and/or gastro-intestinal issues (see additional info from the CDC). What to expect:
Welcome: Intros and overview of FABSCRAP (10 minutes)
Training: Learn how FABSCRAP sorts fabric for recycling (15 minutes)
Sort: Sort through fabric samples and large pieces, pulling out usable fabrics for reuse and removing hardware and paper from fabric swatches for recycling (~2 hours)
Shop for fabric! (20 minutes)
***Sorting fabric requires the use of sharp scissors and moderate lifting (20-30 lbs). By registering for a session, you are confirming that you have read, understand, and agree to the volunteer waiver.***
Tips for a successful volunteer session:
Dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes as most volunteers sort while standing; we can provide chairs if you prefer to sit
Bring your own bag to carry home any material you shop!
We play music, but feel free to bring headphones
Feel free to bring water or beverages with a cap/lid; there are also vending machines in the building
As the weather gets cooler, windows will only be open for ventilation depending on outside temperature
Please be sure to register for every session you plan to attend, and if you are unable to attend – especially if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, or had direct contact with an individual diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID-19 in the past 14 days – cancel your ticket so that others may sign up for your space

THESE DIRECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT:
The FABSCRAP warehouse is located in Building B within the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), which is accessible by foot, bike/scooter, car, subway, bus, and ferry. Free indoor and outdoor bike parking is available at BAT Building B entrances. Free, secure on-site parking is available for cars at the Pier 4/NYC Ferry parking lot.
How to locate FABSCRAP within BAT:
From 58th Street: Follow signs for the Pedestrian Entrance. Building B is the building closest to 2nd Avenue and will be the first building you see in front of you. When you enter the building, walk all the way to the back of the lobby and go through the glass doors to the atrium with the train tracks. Walk along the center pathway to the VERY END of the atrium, where you’ll go through another glass door. Use the elevator on your right to come up to the 5th floor. Go through the door on your left. ***This route is accessible with ramps and elevators.***
From 63rd Street: Enter the BAT complex using the walkway (a car entrance should be to your left and a parking lot to your right – this is NOT public parking). Note that this entrance has stairs. Building B is the building closest to 2nd Avenue and will be the first building you see to the right. When you enter the building, walk through to the back of the lobby. Do not enter the atrium with the train tracks. Make a left before the glass doors, and take the elevator to the 5th floor. Go through the door on your left. ***This route has stairs.***
From Pier 4: Walk toward the buildings labelled Brooklyn Army Terminal and pass the first building. You will go up a ramp and pass under an arch. Building B will be the second large building on your right, farthest from the water. The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights is practicing safe social distancing guidelines for the in-person exhibit. Space is limited to 10 attendees per 1.5-hour slot. Screening will be done prior to entry and masks must be worn.

About Not Another Second
LGBT+ seniors have demonstrated great resilience of humanity over hardship throughout the years, paving the way for a better and more accepting future for generations to come. These brave pioneers stood up and pushed back, refusing to be treated as social outcasts, criminals and sinners or seen as mentally ill. Their living legacy includes hard-won federal rights for LGBT+ members to legally marry, adopt, work and seek housing and health care without discrimination.
Not Another Second tells the stories of 12 LGBT+ seniors and explores the years they lost due to societal constraints. The project acknowledges the sacrifices and contributions of these seniors, celebrates their beauty and bravery and empowers them to share their words of wisdom with younger generations.
The seniors are presented through a series of large-scale portraits interspersed in the exhibit with video stories and a short documentary portraying their experiences as members of the LGBT+ community. Each moving portrait, captured by noted German photographer Karsten Thormaehlen (known for his award-winning series Happy at 100 focusing on centenarians from around the world), is accompanied by the number of years lost, or years when they could not live as their true self beyond their inner circle of trusted friends and family.
A collaboration between the nonprofit SAGE, Watermark Retirement Communities, and Brooklyn’s iconic new luxury senior community The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights, the project highlights important statistics and facts to illustrate the challenges which are still faced by approximately 3 million LGBT+ elders in the United States. This exhibition encourages viewers to join their pledge to continue to fight for what is right.
