Using light and imagination, LuminoCity Festival explores concepts of transforming creative thoughts, inspired by the world around us, into illuminating works of light and color. Every year, we feature new and unique pieces of art.

Celebrate the winter holidays here at LuminoCity Festival in Long Island and gather with friends and family among the glowing Christmas sculptures at our Christmas Hills exhibit, the dazzling sculptures of Alice’s Sleepwalk, and the fascinating lights in the Mysterious Forest!
Not only are we featuring the dazzling Christmas lights, we’ll also have a colorful, immersive Alice Sleepwalk exhibit that will transport you to a world of grinning cats and magic potions. Seriously, you can’t miss it!
For our more adventurous festival-goers, there’s also the Mysterious Forest exhibit that will take guests along a winding path to explore the hidden flora and fauna of the forest.
There’s also the brand-new Lumi’s Utopia exhibit that features 3D-sculpture versions of children’s 2D illustrations, and we’re also bringing back the fan-favorite Lumi’s Friends exhibit! Come see our light sculptures of the 12 selected cats and dogs that are using their oh-so-cute social media platforms to advocate for great causes.”

🚃 By Train & Free Shuttle:
If you are planning on taking the LIRR, don’t fret! Whitney Pond Park is off the Manhasset stop on the LIRR, and we will provide FREE shuttle bus rides for festival guests to and from the train stop.
🚗 🚎 Free Parking & Shuttle:
We are also excited to announce that both parking and shuttle rides to this new venue will now be FREE!
If you will be driving to the festival, you may park for free at the Macy’s parking lot in the designated spaces near the park, and we’ll be providing a FREE shuttle bus to bring guests to and from the festival location.

Lumi is excited to meet all of you and he wants to make sure he can so please arrive at your designated time. New Festival Location For Long Island, NY!

To our dear friends, in light of recent discussions with the local Long Island government and communities, we have decided to move the NY location of the 2021 LuminoCity Festival.
Out of respect for our local communities’ wishes, the festival will now be held at the beautiful Whitney Pond Park in Manhasset (7 Community Dr E, Manhasset, NY 11030), which is thankfully only 10 minutes from the original location at Clark Botanic Garden! While we are saddened to have to announce this news so close to our November opening, we at LuminoCity believe your safety and the happiness of our communities are of the utmost importance.
Luckily, with the help of the local Long Island government, the LuminoCity Festival lights will still shine in Long Island in 2021, and Lumi and his friends can’t wait to see everyone at the lovely Whitney Pond Park! We are confident that festivalgoers will still experience the joy and inspiration that LuminoCity is famous for.

Experience the beauty of Newark during our winter village. A stylish open-air festival overlooking beautiful downtown Newark with curbside eats, ice skating, and marketplace. Enjoy food and hot beverages from selective local businesses inside one of our cozy heated private pods or igloos. Pods and igloos will be cleaned and aired out after each use. Observing all CDC protocols and guidelines and social distancing while not in the glasshouses. Masks are required. A holiday celebrating the Black community, family, and culture
CRAWL
The act of traveling by foot from one bar to another
KWANZAA CRAWL IS…
A one-day event where people of the African diaspora join together to support the Black-owned bars and restaurants in their neighborhood. Crawlers will be dressed in whatever makes them feel Black and beautiful for a day of unity, fellowship, and fun!
Kwanzaa Crawl is on the first day of Kwanzaa, Sunday, December 26, 2021. It will support local, Black-owned businesses in BROOKLYN and HARLEM. The crawl is focused on the social aspect of building community and facilitates the creation of economic empowerment within our community.
TO PARTICIPATE:
SELECT A BAR. Choose your desired FIRST STOP on the crawl. (The remaining 3 bars on your route will be randomly selected.)
CHOOSE ANY TEAM #. This will be your team for the entire crawl. If you want to crawl with your friends, make sure they choose your EXACT TEAM #, too. You cannot switch teams mid-crawl.
PICK UP YOUR WRISTBAND(S). Registration for ALL teams will be available on December 18, 19, 22 and 23 in BROOKLYN. You’ll be able to get your wristbands and shop at our Black-owned pop-up shop! On December 20 – 21, there will be an additional registration in HARLEM for Harlem teams only.
MEET YOUR TEAM. On December 26, the day of the event, meet up at your team’s Kick-Off location to connect with your team leader and teammates, and to retrieve your special Kwanzaa Crawl map detailing the rest of the bars on your route. (You’ll receive Kick-Off details closer to the event.)
CRAWL OUT! After the Kick-Off, teams will follow their team leader and together, they’ll crawl to all the bars listed on their map.

Lana Schupbach is a highly acclaimed television producer with an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades, marked by five Daytime Emmy nominations and a wealth of experience in both cable and network TV.
In her most recent role as the Senior Producer of the globally renowned TODAY show on NBC, Lana showcased exceptional leadership, steering an award-winning team to craft captivating and innovative content for millions of viewers. Her tenure included a notable achievement in 2019 when she assumed the role of Senior Producer for “Cheers to KLG,” a special week- long series honoring the legendary television anchor, Kathie Lee Gifford.

After the critical triumph of her Sondheim Sublime album– called “the finest Sondheim recording ever made” by The Wall Street Journal – Melissa Errico (My Fair Lady, High Society, Dracula, White Christmas) returns to the National Arts Club and to her favorite songwriter with an entirely new program of Sondheim songs, celebrating a new album and a different side of Sondheim. From the anthem of city busyness, “Another Hundred People,” to the bittersweet hymns of city marriage, “Sorry, Grateful” and “Good Thing Going”, with time for hard-boiled surprises like “Uptown, Downtown,” and surprisingly soft-centered ballads like “What More Do I Need? “ and “Dawn,” Melissa will sound out New York as she rounds out her portrait of Sondheim—and, as always in an Errico show, there will be smart talk from this celebrated New York Times columnist to go along with her sublime singing. Melissa Errico’s highly anticipated album, Sondheim in the City, will be released by Concord Records on February 16, 2024, with an appearance at Birdland to celebrate the release.

ABOUT MAX ROACH
NEA Jazz Master, MacArthur Genius, Drummer, composer, and percussionist Max Roach was noted for his innovative contrapuntal polyrhythms, and was one of the founders of the bebop movement in jazz. He is widely considered one of the greatest drummers of all time, able to keep separate simultaneous rhythms going with each hand, revolutionizing jazz drumming. He played on many of the most famous jazz recordings, including “Jazz at Massey Hall” with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, and Bud Powell, and “Birth of the Cool” with Miles Davis. He worked with other icons of jazz including Sonny Rollins, Clifford Brown, Thelonious Monk, singer Dinah Washington, and free jazz saxophonist Anthony Braxton. His work spanned a remarkable six decades.
AWARDS & HONORS
Roach was given a MacArthur Genius Grant in 1988 and cited as a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 1989. He was twice awarded the French Grand Prix du Disque, was elected to the International Percussive Art Society’s Hall of Fame and the DownBeat Hall of Fame, and was awarded Harvard Jazz Master. He was celebrated by Aaron Davis Hall and was given eight honorary doctorate degrees, including degrees awarded by Medgar Evers College, CUNY, the University of Bologna, and Columbia University, in addition to his alma mater, the Manhattan School of Music.
ABOUT WINARD HARPER
Drummer WINARD HARPER is passionate about jazz. “This music is powerful,” he says. “It can do a lot of good for people. If they’d spend some time each day listening to it, we would see many changes in the world.”
Inspired by the musicianship of greats such as Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Jackie McLean, Cannonball Adderley, Dr. Billy Taylor, Art Blakey, and Billy Higgins, Harper has been the leader and musical inspiration for a vibrant sextet for almost a decade. The group appears regularly all over the United States from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. to Yoshi’s, the legendary West Coast jazz club. Although clearly the dominant force behind this extraordinarily gifted ensemble, Harper has surrounded himself with superbly talented young guardians of the jazz tradition (including Lawrence Clark, Ameen Saleem, Josh Evans, Stacy Dillard, and Alioune Faye), who are as entertaining to watch as they are to listen to.
Dan Licata (6’7″, SNL) and Joe Pera (6’8″, Adult Swim) host a great comedy show to bring a friend, date, or family person to without having to worry about it being bad.
