We present to you three magnificent women to let us in on their secret: Sewit Hailesilassie (AWiB President Elect), Lubaba Damtie and Birikty Kahsay.
All these three Gems have plenty of lessons and laughter to share with us.
Who are they? What do they do in life and how do they do it?
What are they passionate about?
What are the success factors in their individual lives?
What challenges have they experienced and how did they overcome them?
Which personal triumphs do they celebrate?
How do they contribute to their communities?
What’s their vision for the future?

SEWIT HAILESELASSIE
Sewit is the young, dynamic and bold incoming president of the Association for Women in Boldness (AWiB) for 2019. She is currently working as a Strategic Communications Analyst for Enterprise Partners/DAI and has worked as a Journalist, consultant, gender expert, lecturer and researcher trough her ten year career. Sewit’s passion is her work on social justice and she is well known for her outspoken feminism. She believes that the exclusion of women’s work, lived experience and contributions must be rectified in the mainstream trough critical reflection on the intersecting dimensions of inequality.
Sewit has a BA Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies from Addis Ababa University. Her professional and research interests include leadership development, sustainable development, peace, exclusion, labor, work and social justice. Sewit loves to read anything from fiction to social analysis and politics and writes for the AWiB Blog and African Feminism.
In the past two years as an AWiB board member she has brought a fresh new energy to the team, keeping her promise to shake things up while getting things done. Her goal in life is to learn so she thrives in a challenging learning environment and good conversation. Her ambition in life is to grow into the woman she is meant to be while supporting others to reach their full potential which is why she is resolute to work with youth. She is absolutely crazy in love her two kids, as a devoted mother of two and a loving wife.
BIRIKTI KAHSAY
Birikti Kahsay was born and grew up in Axum town in Tgray region. She’s an industrious and devoted branch manager at Wegagen Bank S.C. She has worked her way up from teller to managing one of the branches of Wegagen Bank. Birikty goes extra mile to serve customers and forecast future trends.
Ever since her young age in high school, Birikty was working in her family business with greater responsibility. Due to her father‘s instruction, she used to be at the location of her family business as early as 07:00AM when her class shift is in the afternoon. She also learned the importance of commitment, punctuality and devotion to work. That experience helped her to be proactive, to be competent and to be a critical thinker.
Birikty has a BA Degree in Management and currently doing her 2nd degree in Masters of Business Administration. She’s highly professional in customer service handling and communication that earned her accolade from her customers.
Birikty’s goal in life is to leave her comfort zone and have her own business. Her passion, beyond her own success, is to be able to contribute to the community. She’s a happy and proud mother of two amazing daughters.
LUBABA DAMTIE
Lubaba is a strong and compassionate young lady who is passionate about Human Resources management. Lubaba has been working in Commercial Bank of Ethiopia for the last 20 years in different positions in HR management sector. She is now serving as a Director of Human Resource Development (Director – Center of Expertise). She is passionate about HR because it is a discipline that deals with the human being; the invaluable resource of every organization. In the prevailing competitive environment, HR is the only competitive advantage for every organization to sustain, and working in this indispensable area makes her proud.
Lubaba has got both her BA degree in Management & Business Administration and Masters Degree in HR Management from the Addis Ababa University. She also got opportunities to take different kinds of trainings both locally and internationally.
Lubaba is a mother of three, two daughters and a son. She considered her children as the blessings and priceless gifts from God who add to the meaning of life. She said that her life is dedicated for them and she is a strong young working mom and wife who committed herself for the family good.

Crisis is an extreme situation of conflict to a point of extreme violence that is, threat to human security, fighting, death, injury, etc. Crisis can always be resolved, what the practitioners can do is to manage and regulate them..

This is a cornerstone of Catherine Hamlin’s vision – ensuring that women in Ethiopia have access to qualified midwives so they no longer suffer prolonged obstructed labour, stillborn births and childbirth injuries. Since 2007, 125 midwives have graduated from the Hamlin College of Midwives.

His visit is aimed at boosting the involvement of all Ethiopian Diaspora living in the US in the ongoing reforms, development, and democratization in their country of birth. His trip will be held under the theme “Demolishing the Wall and Let‘s Build the Bridge.” According the program, the Premier will meet Ethiopians in Los Angeles, California. The Ministry invited all Ethiopians to participate in the meeting, regardless of their political ideology, religion, and ethnic background. The event will be held on July 29, 2018, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
