Unknowability: How Do We Know What Cannot Be Known? – 38th in the Social Re… @ The New School New York, NY 10011 United States

Unknowability: How Do We Know What Cannot Be Known? - 38th in the Social Re... @ The New School New York, NY 10011 United States | | |

The Center for Public Scholarship at The New School invites you to Unknowability: How Do We Know What Cannot Be Known?, the 38th Social Research Conference.

From the earliest moments of humanity’s search for answers and explanations, we have grappled with the unknowable, that which we are unable or not permitted to know. What does the history of the unknowable look like? What are the questions once thought to be unanswerable that have been answered? Are there enduring unknowables and if so, what are they?

This conference affords a rare opportunity for scholars from different fields to engage with each other and with the general public on this issue, particularly while we are living in what some might call a post-truth world. At a time when the distinction between what is true and what is not has become increasingly problematic, focusing attention on how we know what we cannot know has become essential.

*This event is free. Guests are encouraged to register.

This conference is partially supported by the National Science Foundation under Award Number SES 1837895

Skylar Grey is a five-time Grammy nominated and RIAA Diamond Award winning singer/songwriter responsible for co-writing some of the most memorable songs to light up the Billboard Hot 100 and iTunes sales charts, totaling more than 25 million in sales worldwide.

Grey is perhaps most known as a songwriter, particularly for her work with Eminem. Co-writing the 12x platinum smash hit “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, which led to Grey working on over a dozen songs with him and collaborators including Dr. Dre, Beyoncé, Pink, and Alicia Keys. She has performed with him on numerous occasions including The Grammys, SNL, and his world tours.

Grey most recently performed the end title song for the movie “Aquaman,” called “Everything I Need.” Grey’s cover of “Stand By Me” made waves after being the featured song in Budweiser’s 2018 Super Bowl commercial. In 2017, Grey featured on Macklemore’s platinum single “Glorious,” which was included on his solo album, Gemini.

Currently, Grey is working on new music that revisits her organic roots. “I’ve gone on a lot of musical adventures over the years, working in hip-hop and EDM and experimenting in all different genres,” Grey says. “But lately I’ve been drawn to the nostalgia of an acoustic 70’s inspired sound, and lyrical storytelling, which is how my whole music career began when I started performing with my mother at age six.”

Eminem and Alex Da Kid executive produced Grey’s debut album Don’t Look Down, which was released on July 5, 2013. In its first week of release the album debuted at #8 on the US Billboard 200 chart in the United States. Grey released her sophomore album, Natural Causes on September 23, 2016. Writing and recording much of the album at her home in Park City, UT she found inspiration through nature.

With additional co-writing and feature credits include songs with the likes of Puff Daddy, Nicki Minaj, Zedd, Kaskade, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, TI, and Christina Aguilera, Grey has spent the past decade quietly assembling one of modern music’s most ubiquitous and undeniable discographies. In 2015, she contributed “I Know You” to the chart-dominating Fifty Shades of Grey official soundtrack and “I Will Return” to the Furious 7 official soundtrack. In 2016, Grey contributed a pair of tracks to the Billboard-topping Suicide Squad official soundtrack, entitled “Wreak Havoc” and a songwriting credit for Kehlani’s “Gangsta.”

Grey a Wisconsin native, currently resides in Napa, California.

DEMAND GENERATION TOPICS

1. How Large Companies Can Optimize Content at the Speed of Ecommerce – Led by Stephanie Leffler & Amanda Wolff (OneSpace)
Recent research indicates that the brands who are most successful at growing revenue in ecommerce regularly optimize their product content. However, it also revealed that the biggest barrier for developing great content was the number of approvals required internally. Learn the strategies and practical tips to overcome these hurdles with your key stakeholders to create, review, approve, and publish content at scale and at the speed of ecommerce.

2. Latest Ad Features & Tools to Accelerate Your Brands – Led by Melissa Burdick & David Zimmerman (Pacvue)
Amazon has been launching new features in advertising at an increasingly rapid pace that will only continue to speed up. Learn 1) the newest features and functionality launched within the last few months, 2) the advances in tool technology and how brands and agencies are leveraging them to achieve a better competitive advantage and 3) the optimal support models needed internally to maximize your advertising strategy and activation.

3. Drive It & They Will Come: Advanced Demand Generation Strategies – Led by Patrick Miller & Bernie Che (Flywheel Digital)
The “build it and they will come” strategy doesn’t apply to the digital shelf. Demand generation through targeted marketing activities and promotions is critical to driving traffic, converting it into sales and accelerating your own Amazon flywheel performance. If you have the basics down and want to take it to the next level, it’s time to master some of the more advanced demand generation strategies.

We’ll conclude the conversation around the power that brands have individually and collectively and the tactics and methods available to navigate a successful ‘partnership’ with Amazon in an increasingly hostile environment.

5. Brand Wars: How to Combat Amazon Private Label – Led by Shyla Navarro & Kurt Vogel (Edge by Ascential)

6. Supply Chain: The Missing Link to Growth – Led by Mike O’Donnell, Brooke Ware & Candice Beitler (Flywheel Digital)

However, your supply chain strategy can be a (if not the) primary driver of your Amazon business if harnessed and optimized effectively. Learn some of the strategies and tactics top brands are leveraging to turn their ecommerce supply chain into a major growth engine.

7. Business Growth 2.0: What to Do After the Slowdown? – Led by Alex McCord, Drew Habeck & Craig Granger (Flywheel Digital)
While Amazon has been a source of strong topline growth for years, many 1P brand manufacturers have experienced increasing business deceleration, both creating internal concerns around future growth on the platform and posing risk to the continued resource allocation and investment. About Qiqi

“The Wonderful Story” is China’s most popular talker (debate) talent show. It has set a myth that a single- click hit of 500 million hits and a single title sponsorship fee has broken 100 million. The program process and the contestants gossip on the hot search. The debates in each issue are discussed in a heated discussion.

The above data comes from “People’s Network”

Guest story first season BBKING Ma Weiwei

In the first season, BBKING Ma Weiwei , in the professional debate, is also the top logic, not talking nonsense, using the super popular interpretation and sensitive reaction speed to increase the level of debate, often bursting with golden sentences, making people clap their hands.

“You said that you need someone to accompany you, keep a dog!”

This sentence, which Ma Weiwei said five years ago, sounds classic now.

Domineering, sharp, and sharp, is the impression most people have on Ma Weiwei in the first season.

In the fifth season of “Qi Yu said”, there was a debate that made the audience cry, and the tough queen was crying, even called “the cruelest debate” –

If you have a bottle of water to eliminate sadness, do you want to drink?

At this time, Ma Weiwei was suffering from depression, taking medicine and getting good every day. My friends knew that Ma Weiwei was very painful.

This bottle of medicine seems to be a life-saving medicine for Ma Weiwei.

But Ma Weiwei said that she can’t drink .

Ma Weiwei explained in the next second, “If you forget you (friends), what is the meaning of my life.”

Then he couldn’t make a sound, and once he was stubborn, he was turned into nothing in the warmth of friendship.

Everyone discovered that Ma Weiwei has been changing and growing since the beginning of the five seasons.

The queen who never cries in the first season;

In the second season, I began to fall in love and gradually opened my heart;

The third season began to crap, and the friends began to make troubles;

In the fourth quarter, I shared my story and cried.

Ma Weiwei recalled the whole process. She felt that this was the process of slowly relaxing, and there was a feeling that life was getting better.

Such a queen seems to be fragile but more real.

Today’s Ma Weiwei is still the queen.

Her perspective is still unique, and her language expression still strikes the hearts of the people.

Her debate, like a sharp needle, pierces the real balloon and lets you see life.

Now she, after all the tempering, is still very sharp.

This time, she will have a unique expression, definitely worth looking forward to.

The second season BBKING Qiu Chen

The second season, BBKING Qiu Chen , nicknamed “worms”, is very calm. Qiu Chen also came to the scene in the last season of “White Stork”, which is our old friend.

Qiu Chen won the international college debate, and the winning international college debate was regarded as a lifelong dream by many Chinese debaters. In the past ten years of research, she has almost opened the universe and studied the logical deduction of thousands of arguments.

Different from Ma Weiwei’s sharpest style, Qiu Chen is rationally a pillar in the world of “The Wonderful Dance”. The powerful logic and knowledge reserve allowed her to win strength in the show, so that everyone can see the deep accumulation of this professional debater.

Qiu Chen won the second season of “Qi Yu said” –

Since then, this “Qiqi Youth” has added a glory symbol of “BB King” in addition to “the bottom line of the debater / the unreliable reporter / the editor who can’t do it / the half-way design . ”

This strange nickname is all Qiu Chen’s own description.

Saying that she has no bottom line / not reliable, but makes her look happy and funny.

Listening to Qiu Chen’s debate, there is no tension and no shock. Most of them are laughter, laughing and laughing. If you say something, you will listen to it.

But everyone smiled and laughed. Most people didn’t pay attention to the identity of Qiu Chen’s slash youth.

The identity of the slash youth is the source of Qiu Chen’s unique views.

This person who is arrogant in the debate field suffers from “late lazy cancer.” In the fifth season, “Qi Yu said,” Qiu Chen said frankly about his own cancer. That kind of optimism and relaxed warmth and impress many people

Even if he got cancer, Qiu Chen joked, “I am really sick.”

If you get cancer and see death, you can better face life.

Become “mournful” and see the tragedy in order to better embrace joy.

Qiu Chen, who is “fascinated” to “extremely”, can always see different scenery.

If we are finally exhausted by the sharpening of life, Qiu Chen tells us that funeral can also be a wonderful life.

As Qiu Chen said, “Since there are cracks, then you break it, rush out and look for light yourself.”

Let us join Qiu Chen to see how it shines.

The third quarter BBKING Huang Zhizhong

In the third quarter, BBKING Huang Zhizhong , nicknamed “Young Master”, is a squad of God.

Mu Xin said that talent, heart and mind are indispensable, doing everything. Huang Zhizhong just happened to be all three.

He is very passionate and he is motivated.

He is called “the god of debate”, “the treasure of the island”…

In the debate, he can completely immerse you in the scenes when describing the story, constructing a vivid new world for you, and your emotions will fluctuate closely following his language.

His expression of the level of arguments is often not at a certain level, but rather a statement of the perspective of God who constructed the world, both in the overall situation and in the rich.

Huang Zhizhong, who is known as “Satan” in the debate, can always tell the truth of the world that we have never noticed in the story, let us rush to the top.

“A happy pig that is infused with a nutrient solution and intoxicated in a fantasy can have the best happiness. A sober person is often painful.”

Whether awake or fantasy, you would be willing to enter the world of Huang Zhizhong, follow in his footsteps, think together.

Huang Zhizhong has too many stories to tell.

A child who has never spoken to others, a man who can see the hidden truth of the world.

Talking to Huang Zhizhong may be an opportunity to influence your life.
