Multi-hyphenate, multidisciplinary artist Saul Williams brings his unique dynamism to this Afrofuturist vision, a sci-fi punk musical that’s a visually wondrous amalgamation of themes, ideas, and songs that Williams has explored in his work, notably his 2016 album MartyrLoserKing. Co-directed with his partner, the Rwandan-born artist and cinematographer Anisia Uzeyman, the film takes place in the hilltops of Burundi, where a group of escaped coltan miners form an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective. From their camp in an otherworldly e-waste dump, they attempt a takeover of the authoritarian regime exploiting the region’s natural resources – and its people. When an intersex runaway and an escaped coltan miner find each other through cosmic forces, their connection sparks glitches within the greater divine circuitry. Set between states of being – past and present, dream and waking life, colonized and free, male and female, memory and prescience – Neptune Frost is an invigorating and empowering direct download to the cerebral cortex and a call to reclaim technology for progressive political ends. Kofi Hunter imagines a world where Art can transform lives. As an in-demand multi-percussionist Kofi has been given the opportunity to support some of the biggest names in music, from The Robert Glasper Experiment Saxophonist Casey Benjamin to Hip Hop Superstar GoldLink. Kofi along with his brother established an Afro-Diasporic Neo-Folk Percussion and Vocal Group named Akoko Nante Ensemble. Akoko Nante has performed at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Concert Series, and has been featured as a musical guest on VICE’s The Untitled Action Bronson Show. Their debut album Nkrabea: Destiny is available on all streaming platforms.

When he’s not on the bandstand he’s either in a classroom as a teaching artist with his Arts Education initiative, Righteous Rebel Education or at the helm of his partnership with Brooklyn music venue and non-for profit National Sawdust, the modern spin on a traditional Kwanzaa Celebration, music festival Kwanzaa Fest BK.

Kofi recently released his debut album Nation Time via his Righteous Rebel Music label.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Rooftop Films are open to all ages, but ID and proof of age is required for entry. You must be 21+ to attend the after party.

Can I bring food and drinks?

No outside alcoholic beverages are allowed. Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages! No glass on the roof, please!

Can I wear heels?

Sorry, but not on the roof we ask that you don’t wear stiletto heels as it’s a soft roof. You are allowed to wear pointy heels in the Courtyard and we provide flip flops if needed.

Do I need to wear a mask?

All attendees are required to wear a mask during check in, and while indoors. Masks are encouraged while interacting with staff outdoors. Mask policy may be updated based on current local conditions at the time of the event. Ticket holders will be notified of policy changes via email prior to the event.

How accessible is this venue?

There will be a few flights of stairs to climb up to the roof. If you would like to attend this event but have an ADA need, we can provide a freight elevator. There is one step that will be unavoidable in stepping onto the roof. Our courtyard seating (available at select events) is entirely accessible. About this event
At the Bell Blvd Food and Music Fest on Sunday, June 5th, you can try over 35 restaurants along Bell Blvd between 38th and 43rd avenues for less than $1 per restaurant.

Tickets are limited and this event has sold out in the last 2 years, so don’t wait!

In addition to the $35 ticketed restaurant stroll, the Food & Music Fest has free live music, dance shows, aerialist performances, and more on every block. Minigolf, beach ball volleyball, and ping pong are also available at no cost. Arts and crafts, games, and family entertainment will fill the afternoon.

Online ticket prices: $35 for adults; $15 for children under 12 years old (children’s tickets cannot be used for alcohol).

We are excited to announce the return of Taste of Hoboken! On June 7 from 6-9 p.m., we’ll be hosting an elegant evening on the iconic Hoboken waterfront featuring local restaurants, delicious drinks, live entertainment and a silent auction to benefit the Hoboken Community Center, which encompasses the Hoboken Food Pantry.

The Hoboken Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides essential services and spaces to support the well-being of the Hoboken, NJ community. It has a three-pronged mission consisting of affordable housing for 96 low-income men, a 40,000+ square foot community and recreation center under rehabilitation at 1301 Washington Street, and a food, hygiene and pet supply pantry.
