Hear a brief update on the progress the Foundation is making to eradicate fistulas (childbirth injuries). The Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation provides scholarships to Ethiopian students from remote rural areas, to train as Midwives, so that they can return to their communities to provide much needed prenatal care. This is a cornerstone of Catherine Hamlin’s vision – ensuring that women in Ethiopia have access to qualified midwives so they no longer suffer prolonged obstructed labour, stillborn births and childbirth injuries. Since 2007, 125 midwives have graduated from the Hamlin College of Midwives.
