There will be a book signing to follow. Can’t attend the event? Signed books from Kalie Cassidy and Maddie Martinez will be available for Brooklyn pick-up and shipping here. Must order by June 29th. About In the Wake of the Ruined: The realm has a new queen … and a new monster. Imogen Nel, a powerful Siren, can no longer hide her monstrous abilities. She has claimed her ancestral crown and new grotesque magic, and now the corrupted bond she shares with the ancient deity Eusia is stronger than ever. Though Imogen is determined to sever it, doing so is no easy feat. The threat of war looms. Shifting alliances, a hunger for magic, and her feelings for Theodore, King of Varya, attempt to thwart her at every turn. Meanwhile, Theodore is battling the strain of his own crown and commitments. When Imogen suddenly appears on his ship, every dutiful resolution he’s ever made threatens to snap. As they draw nearer to ending Eusia, lurking dangers and their perilous desire for one another prove nearly insurmountable. Will the chaos, ruin, and death that Imogen was prophesied to usher into the realm be the end of all things, or the beginning? About Kalie Cassidy: Kalie Cassidy was born and raised in Southern California and spent over a decade working in Los Angeles as a professional theater actor, coach, and acting teacher. She now lives in the Midwest with her family and rambunctious golden retriever. About Maddie Martinez: Maddie Martinez was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has a BA in Political Science from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and an MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, DC. You can now find Maddie in New York City, filling her tiny apartment with an unwieldy number of books. The Maiden and Her Monster is her first novel. The Baby-sitters Club Fan Edition: Baby-sitters Summer celebrates the tremendous world of fan fiction inspired by the beloved series celebrating its 40th anniversary. As longtime BSC editor (and event moderator) David Levithan said, “One of the joys of The Baby-sitters Club is that we now have generations of fans who think of the BSC as their own.” The “Fan Edition” invited six fan authors to each write a story about one of the characters alongside Ann M. Martin writing as Mary Anne. Becky Albertalli, Coe Booth, Sarah Kuhn, Peter Lerangis, Jahnna N. Malcolm, and Emma Straub join her in writing this summer to remember for Stacey, Kristy, Claudia, Dawn, Jessi, and Mallory. Navigating adolescence, friendship, and family across the map, Mary Anne and Stacey stay in Stoneybrook while the rest of The Baby-sitters Club members head out on adventures. Ann M. Martin launched The Baby-sitters Club with Kristy’s Big Idea, which was first published in 1986. The series has gone on to have almost 200 million books in print, and has been made into two TV series and a movie. Of all the BSC members, Ann has always seen herself the most as Mary Anne. She is also the author of the Baby-sitters Little Sister, Main Street, and Family Tree series, as well as such beloved novels as A Dog’s Life and the Newbery Honor book A Corner of the Universe. She lives in New York with her pets and the animals she fosters. Becky Albertalli’s first introduction to Stoneybrook was through Karen Brewer at age seven, but she went on to devour the entire BSC series and every single adaptation. Decades later, she wrote a book called Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda about a boy named Simon Spier—a homage to Mary Anne. She’s written nine more books since then, including Imogen, Obviously and Amelia, If Only. These days, she’s often found wearing a homemade Krushers team shirt, despite being completely uninterested in sports. Forgive her, Kristy. Coe Booth would have loved to be a member of the Baby-sitters Club! Growing up, she would consider herself a mixture of Jessi, Mallory, and Claudia—a dancing school kid who loved writing and snacks! These days, Coe is the author of several award-winning books, including Kinda Like Brothers and Caprice. Even though she was born and raised in the Bronx (and still lives there), a piece of her heart will always belong to Stoneybrook! Sarah Kuhn spent her tweens making zines and shopping at thrift stores—in other words, she’s always been a very obvious Claudia Kishi. She now spends her adulthood writing books like the popular Heroine Complex series and the beloved rom-coms I Love You So Mochi and From Little Tokyo, With Love. You can follow her journey as an artist and a lifelong BSC fan in the Netflix documentary The Claudia Kishi Club. A third generation Japanese American, she continues to live out the Claudia life in Los Angeles with her husband, an overflowing closet of vintage treasures, and a well stocked snack cabinet. Peter Lerangis is the author of The Sword Thief and The Viper’s Nest, Books 3 and 7 in the bestselling multi-media adventure series The 39 Clues. He has written more than 150 books for young readers in many different genres. He’s also a Broadway musical theater actor/singer, a marathon runner, and a father of two sons. He currently lives in New York City. Emma Straub has always been a Stacey. In the years since she started reading the Baby-sitters Club, Emma has written seven books for grown-ups, three picture books, and now, finally, (part of) a book for the people in between. She and her husband own a bookstore in Brooklyn called Books Are Magic, and if you come visit, she would love to talk to you about the Baby-sitters Club. Jahnna N. Malcolm stands for Jahnna ‘and’ Malcolm. Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner are married and write together. They have written over a hundred books for kids. Before Jahnna and Malcolm wrote books, they were actors. They live in Oregon with their golden retriever, Archie. David Levithan has worked as an editor on The Baby-sitters Club for over thirty years. He helped compile The Complete Guide to the Baby-sitters Club and then went on to write a few novels of his own.
