Since the first one sold out in minutes, Matinée is proudly hosting Spring Equinox Pt 2 – Manhattan Edition.
Whoever decided the new year started in January is both a sadist and just plain wrong. January is for cozy hibernation not for achieving torturous resolutions. We are taking back NYE and celebrating it with the Spring Equinox.
Join us as we pop champagne and countdown to the sunset for the start of spring.
What To Expect
It’s a Matinée event, so you can expect to have a wild night that ends at 10pm surrounded by a beautiful crowd of seasoned aka Millennial(ish) party people.
BUT Spring Equinox will be a bit different than our past events for a few reasons…
The Venue
Our collaboration with Joyface is still going strong, but for Spring Equinox we wanted everyone to be able to watch the sunset. So we’re happy to be hosting at The Club by Mr. Purple, which is a new space on the 14th floor of Hotel Indigo Lower East Side. For those who haven’t been, it’s light-laden disco with west-facing skyline windows so we can countdown until sunset. Take a video tour here.
The Music
Matinée is all about the groove. While the sounds will change based on the collaboration, the recipe will likely always include disco, funk, house, diva singalongs, and songs that overwhelm you with love.
At Spring Equinox, the creative brief is “Let the Sun Shine”. Expect daytime & deep disco that fills you with vitamin D as we countdown to the Spring Equinox.
The Dress Code
Per usual, vibes encouraged. For those who love a theme, think Midsommar meets Saltburn, think white and flowers, think your favorite spring outfit. Here’s a mood board crafted by the Matineer that is one of the architects behind Spring Equinox.

About Matinée
Love to party, but also love a good night’s rest? (Looking at you millennials 👀)
With Matinée, you can have both.
It’s a “night time” dance party that lets you have a wild night out…and be home by 11pm.
The party starts at 5pm, peaks at 8, over at 10.

The Matinée Mission
Nightlife pretty much only caters to 20 somethings. Matinée wants to change that.
We’re working to create a space where our fellow Millennials and beyond can step away from adult responsibilities and let loose for a while – creating memories with old friends and hopefully make some new ones.

What’s the minimum age?
Legally it’s 21+ to get in, but emotionally it’s 30+. Gen Z we love you, but this is our safe space.
